More About Shasta

Now 5 years old, Shasta has been with us from her beginning. She is a daughter of Hazel and has earned titles in Agility, Coursing Ability, and Fast CATs. She is spayed, crate trained, UTD on shots and deworming, and will go to her new home with a contract requiring she be returned to us if the new owner can no longer keep her.

Shasta has not been raised around children or cats; she would be fine with older children that are familiar with large breeds. We would prefer she be the only dog in the home, or a male dog companion that is either older or not pushy. Shasta will "correct" dogs she feels are being rude and has gotten into altercations with a few of our other females; I would not classify her as same sex aggressive but we feel a male canine housemate would be the best fit. She has not spent time around small dogs but could be fine with a medium size male that fits the above criteria (30lbs+). Her ideal home will have a fenced yard as she loves being outside exploring (this includes digging and hunting for vermin so beware if you have flowerbeds). She is a moderate chewer and enjoys a good chew bone or frozen stuffed kong.

Shasta has had some success in Agility and a new handler could get her back in the ring with some training. Shasta needs a very light hand as she "melts" under slight pressure. She loves using her nose and could excel in scent work if someone wanted to take her that route. She has been introduced to Barn Hunt and did pretty well, needs work on indicating. She absolutely loves coursing.

There is no rehoming fee but we will be particular about her placement and would prefer she go to a home within 2 hours of Cleveland, TN 37323. She will be placed with a contract and her AKC papers will remain with Oldfort Dobermans.
