Oldfort Dobermans
Oldfort Dobermans
Welcome! We are a competition home that focuses on American Kennel Club Agility. Our dogs also train for or compete in Obedience, Rally, Coursing Ability, and Fast CATs. We love the Doberman and are striving to improve it through health testing, competition, and selective breeding. Due to our busy show schedule, non-dog work life, and the significant amount of time it takes to raise and properly socialize a litter of puppies, we do not have puppies available all the time. We adhere to the UDC’s Code of Ethics.
We are a member of the:
Tennessee breeder of akc doberman pinschers and home to:

and manners regardless of their show careers. We currently train and attend classes at Play Dog eXcellent (PDX) and recommend them to anyone in the Chattanooga area looking to train or socialize their dog in a structured environment. The Doberman is a highly intelligent breed that learns quickly and desires to please their owner, making them fun to work with. On the other hand, this higher level of intelligence and drive will get the Doberman in trouble if left without daily physical and mental stimulation.
To Raise: Breeding for longevity starts with a strong foundation. All of our dogs are tested to ensure that they are physically and mentally sound. We test for von Willebrand disease (vWD) status, Dilated Cardiomyopathy gene mutations (DCM1 and DCM2), and Degenerative Myelopathy (DM) through an OFA approved lab. We have the hips and elbows evaluated by the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA). The eyes are certified by an ophthalmologist against Persistent Hyperplastic Tunica Vasculosa Lentis (PHTVL) and Persistent Hyperplastic Primary Vitreous (PHPV). Starting at 2 years old, we holter yearly through Alba Medical and have full thyroid panels completed by the University of Michigan.
Our dogs are tested for mental soundness and trainability by earning multiple performance titles.
We breed to the AKC standard, no “oversized” or “giant” dogs here. The Doberman is a medium size breed and performs best when kept that way. Our females mature between 60-70lbs and males between 85-95lbs. Information on oversized Dobermans can be found here (opens in separate tab). We do not support or breed melanistic, “Z” factored, “Albino,” or white Dobermans.

To Love: Our dogs are part of the family and we are devoted to giving them the best care possible. They live inside with us, not in a kennel or shed. Puppies are born and raised in our home where they are socialized by family and friends.
To Train: A well trained dog is a joy to own and our dogs are frequently complimented on their good behavior. We believe every dog should learn basic obedience skills
